Fellow Busterphile & expert researchr ‘fortheloveofbuster’ and I were at archive today and stumbled upon a tiny ad for a boat that looked awfully familiar!

When the Keatons settled in at Muskegon, Michigan, Papa Joe bought a used lake cruiser and christened her “Battleship.”  Buster promptly jerked the steam engine and replaced it with a gasoline one.  (Awesome Kid, no?).  Over the years, Buster and Joe plied the waves of Lake Michigan in the Battleship, fishing and getting into mischief.

The Keatons’ boat looks exactly like those made by the Truscott Boat Manufacturing Company - also located in Michigan.  I found a few additional pics of Truscott boats for comparison.  Amazingly, collector sites say that quite a few of these vintage canopied cruisers still boogie around on Lake Michigan!

I wonder what hubby would say if I asked about towing a boat back from the Damfinos convention this year?  Hee hee hee!

Papa Keaton looks so proud
